You tried, after the last excursion was "incident" you swore it never happened again. But who would have guessed that the rock was so slippery? Now your best backpack is dirty, dirty inside and out. And it is still sitting in the open because of spoiled food smells. What you should do now: clean or throw away? Once you know how to clean a backpack with the following suggestions, do not have to worry about throwing a backpack "bad" never again worry.

Cleaning aBackpack in

o Turn the backpack completely inside out. If it's metal, you remove them and set them aside. Dump any debris onto a newspaper. With a soft brush to remove dirt or dried residues. If you have one available, you can always use a vacuum cleaner with a brush.

o Make sure to clean all corners and joints. Use an old toothbrush to dig deep.

Cleaning a Backpack Outside

2 Wash the outside with a little mild detergent (detergent with degreaser) with a sponge or a damp cloth.

3 Ensure that all seams and flap pockets clean. Use an old toothbrush to clean theEdge.

4 Rinse with cold water and a sponge or clean cloth. You can dip the whole package in a pot with cold water or use a hand shower head or hose to remove all traces of soap inside and out.

5 Hang the bag on your head dry in the air for several days, preferably outdoors. DO NOT use the dryer.

6 If the backpack is still funky perfume, spray it with or hunters Fabreze ® Scent-A-Way ®. But be careful, because these may remove waterproofing chemicalsScotch-Guard ®

7 On a cool, dry place. Do not cover with plastic.

Cleaning a camping backpack in the washing machine (if all else fails)

o DO NOT soak in soapy water. This could lead to delamination of the layers of waterproof backpack or deterioration.

o Follow steps 1-3 from above.

o Place the bag in the washing machine. Wash with cold water only on delicate cycle with mild detergent (Woolite or Ivory flakes). Rinse and air dry to makeseveral days.

or Note: This method is for use only as a last resort. Cleaning a camping backpack in the washing machine can cut material in the package. Makes both the washing machine at your own risk!

Backpack Zipper Care

Clean a backpack zipper is really easy. First, use an old toothbrush to clean, sand, salt and dirt and mud from the zipper. Empty, if necessary, to remove the debris. Trim stray threads to avoid losing or cable clutter. Spray very lightly with a siliconeSpray, occasional lubrication.
